The Romanian city of Turda has firmly established itself as a leader in sustainable urban development, with a strong focus on biodiversity, eco-friendly materials, and energy efficiency. A prime example is its award-winning sustainable mobility plan, which includes the introduction of electric public transport and the expansion of cycling infrastructure.

As part of its green strategy, Turda planted a substantial number of trees in the city center in 2023–2024: Acer campestre 'Elsrijk' and Betula pendula 'Zwitsers Glorie' with a trunk circumference of 25–30 cm.

This carefully planned greening initiative not only enhances the urban landscape, but also improves air quality, supports biodiversity, and increases resilience to climate change. In this way, Turda confirms its commitment to a healthy and sustainable urban future.
