The revitalization of the Svratka River embankment in Brno has transformed what was once a difficult-to-access area into a new natural and recreational space that connects the river with the city and offers places for walking, relaxation, and cycling. The section in question continues from Ruller Embankment, named after architect Ivan Ruller, whose team helped design this part of the embankment.

The revitalized area is being developed gradually over several kilometers along the Svratka, linking different parts of the city with the river. The project includes nature-based flood protection measures, widening and reshaping of the river channel, new paths, areas for recreation, and extensive planting of greenery. A key feature of the new embankment is the mature trees, planted at a trunk circumference of 50–60 cm. The main species include pin oak Quercus palustris and littleleaf linden Tilia cordata, supplemented by other tree species. The larger tree sizes made it possible to create a pleasant environment shortly after completion. The project therefore combines flood protection for the city with the long-term transformation of the embankment into a high-quality public space with a strong green component. Photo: BRNOmycity.
