Behind Veldhoven’s town hall, a group of mature Fagus sylvatica forms a striking green feature within the Minneveld project.
This native beech species is known for its strong presence, dense crown structure, and high ornamental value throughout the seasons. Beech also makes a valuable contribution to biodiversity. A wide range of insects, birds, and small mammals live on and around beech trees, giving them an important role in the urban ecosystem.
The existing group of beeches gives the site an immediate sense of maturity and provides shade, cooling, and a strong landscape identity. By giving these characteristic trees a prominent place in the design, the site’s green heritage is preserved while creating an attractive place to stay for residents and visitors.
