Van den Berk Nurseries supplied trees for the redevelopment of a park with a water-storage function along Rue du Deich in Ettelbruck, beside the Alzette River. The street name refers to the dike that is already in place here: the area forms part of the river’s water management system and is included in Luxembourg’s official flood risk management plan.

Alnus ×spaethii was selected for the main road through the park. The species tolerates both short-term and prolonged flooding and has few soil requirements, making it suitable for an environment where water levels can fluctuate. With a mature height of 15 to 20 meters, rapid growth, and good tolerance of wind and paved surfaces, the species is well suited to the park’s avenue planting.
