Its reddish-brown, fibrous trunk is deeply grooved. The bluish-green, scale-like needles are 1-1.2 cm long and evergreen. The upright, reddish-brown cones grow to a size of 5-8 cm. This cultivar thrives in nutrient-rich, even moist soils and is hardy to zone 7a.
