The leaves emerge bronze coloured. The tree flowers in May, before the leaves emerge, producing an abundance of flowers. The white single flowers are in long-stemmed bunches and have a strong and pleasant scent. 'Jo-nioi' seldom bears fruit. The tree is suitable for planting as a park tree and as an avenue tree on wide green verges. It does not stand up to wet soil. Winter hardiness zone: 6a
