'Mirabelle de Nancy' is a plum tree with a bushy, dense crown of 4-6 m in height. The crown is round and sometimes slightly irregular in shape. The lightly scented, white blossom opens in April. Although 'Mirabelle de Nancy' is self-pollinating, the tree will produce more fruit after cross-pollination by another plum variety. Preferably, 'Hauszwetsche' or 'Reine Claude d'Althan' can be used for this purpose. Plums can be picked around mid-August. They are small, round and yellow with small red dots or spots. The yellowish flesh is soft, juicy and remarkably sweet. 'Mirabelle de Nancy' is also known by its popular name crocus plum; the plums are very suitable for direct consumption or processing into purée. 'Mirabelle de Nancy' probably originates from the Middle East or Asia and was imported to France in the 16th century. Hardiness zone 6.
