'Woodside Column' is a large tree to about 20-25 m tall. The crown is long columnar, but will widen in later life, becoming more or less narrowly oval. The twigs and bark have the same distinctive colours as P. ×hispanica. The grey-green and yellow-green exfoliating bark is therefore an attractive added ornamental feature in 'Woodside Column' too. At 12-25 cm, the hand-lobed leaves are the same size as in P. ×hispanica. However, the leaves are darker green, giving the tree a healthy appearance. They turn brownish-yellow in autumn.
'Woodside Column' grows in all soils that are not too calcareous. The tree is moderately to well wind resistant, but sea wind is not tolerated. Suitable for use as avenue, street and park tree. Atmospheric tree in old lanes and along canals.
