Lovely, densely branched tree growing to around 6 m. The compact crown is ovoid to narrow oval and stays slender and dense when mature. The thick, mature bark is grey-brown and deeply grooved revealing the light brown-yellow bast. The tips of the stiff, glossy, dark green needles are curved inwards which is particularly striking on young shoots. The oval to narrow oval cones are in twos or threes on short stems. Colour is the same as the species. Beautiful and above all compactly growing, quite slender form that is suitable for gardens too. Has few demands as to soil, tolerates limy soil and wind.
