RED RAGE is a small tree up to about 10 m tall. The crown is broad pyramidal and eventually grows to about 6 m wide. The slightly irregular shape of the crown gives the tree a more informal character. The twigs are greenish brown and the older bark is dark grey and grooved. RED RAGE's leaves are slightly larger than those of the species N. sylvatica. They are deep green and distinctly glossy. In autumn, the leaves turn intense red for several weeks. The inconspicuous flowers appear around May-June. The tree produces only male flowers and thus will not bear fruit.
Red Rage, like other N. sylvatica, likes a moist, preferably loamy soil. The tree is suitable as a solitary or park tree, but also does well in larger gardens. Hardiness zone 5a.
