Small tree with a broad ovoid crown, up to about 6 m. The young shoots are red and bear bronze-coloured young leaves. The oval to elliptical leaf turns dark green in summer. The semi-double, 5 to 6 cm flowers open in May. They consist of 10 to 15 petals which are followed by quite small crab apples. Initially, these are green with an orange blush, turning through orange to deep red in October and November. This cultivar, distinctive by its semi-double flowers was bred by father John Fiala and brought onto the market by Lake County Nursery.
