Well-growing, medium-sized tree with clearly upright growing stem branches. The tree grows about 6-8 m tall and forms a semi-open, broad vase-shaped crown. The pale pink flower buds appear in April, from which white-pink to white flowers open in mid-April to early May. The apples can be picked from the end of August to the end of September. The apples are large and flattened spherical. They are glossy green with a red blush or red stripes. The early harvested apples have quite soft, juicy and aromatic, acidic flesh. They are very suitable as hand, purée or cooking apples. After storage, the apples become sweeter. If harvested later, the apples are mainly suitable as hand apples. As the apples hang from the branches in bundles, they can literally push each other off the branch. Especially in strong winds, this can be a problem. Named after the French nurseryman Jacques Lebel from Amiens, who found this variety as a seedling around 1825. Hardiness zone 6.
