Double Bellefleur is a strong-growing, medium-sized tree with a round, open crown. Its height is about 7-9 m. The tree blooms with white-pink flowers in April, which is an additional ornamental feature. The apples can be picked in September. They are large and round, sometimes somewhat irregular in shape. The colour is yellow with a large bright red blush. Sometimes the blush is so large that the apples appear to be red with a yellow blush. The flesh is hard and the apple tastes sour. It is therefore not a hand apple, but a typical storage apple, suitable for making juice or purée, or for cooking and incorporating into apple pie. Double Bellefleur is an old variety that was grown before 1760. Hardiness zone 6.
