Fairly slender, vertically growing, small to medium size, usually multi-stemmed tree with an ovoid to broad ovoid crown. Can grow rather vigorously, especially when young, eventually becoming about 8 - 10 m high. The vase-shaped flowers can be over 20 cm across when fully open. They are an even, soft yellow with a dark yellow heart of stamens. On the inside, the petals have a small, red mark at the base. The flowers open around early to mid-May. Originated as a mutant of M. ‘Sundance’ after colchicine treatment. Suitable for parks and gardens.
