Juglans regia 'Coenen' is a strong, vigorous tree with a broad, loose and open crown, attaining a height of 20 - 30 m. Trunk, branches and leaves are identical to those of the species. The leaves appear early in the year, which increases the risk of damage by night frost. After the emergence of the leaves the male and female flowers appear. They appear roughly simultaneously so that pollination is possible. But for effective pollination it is recommended that another type be planted close by, e.g. J. 'Buccaneer'.
