Fagus sylvatica 'Greenwood' is a Dutch selection that was found in Oudenbosch (NL) in 1981. The tree grows slower than the species and has an upright growing crown. It is still unknown what the eventual height may be. The green leaf is small, circa 4 cm. In spring the leaf of the first shoot is obovate to spoon-shaped. It is green then with a light green margin. At the so-called St. Johnslot (Midsummer's day) the leaf is similar to the species. Moderate wind resistance. Winter hardiness zone: 5b
