'Red Fall' is a densely branched medium-sized tree with a slightly irregular, conical to broadly conical crown. The tree grows about 8-12 m tall. The species C. caroliniana is somewhat variable in shape. Low, broad trees occur, but also well upright growing clones. 'Red Fall' fulfils the need to have a good tree-shaped cultivar. Also unlike the species, in which autumn colours are variable both in intensity and colour, 'Red Fall' always gives intense orange-red autumn colours. Has few soil requirements and grows best in humus-rich loamy soils. Temporarily tolerates a lot of moisture. Hardiness zone 4
