Acer rubrum 'Schlesingeri' Acer rubrum 'Schlesingeri'

Aceraceae

Acer rubrum 'Schlesingeri' Acer rubrum 'Schlesingeri'

Medium-sized tree with a vase-like to egg-shaped crown that is dense and closed. Height to circa 20 m. Young twigs strikingly red-brown. The leaf stalk too is red, while the leaf is bright green and circa 12 cm. The underside of the leaf is blue-green. The orange-red to deep purple colouring in autumn starts early and it is one of the nicest colourings within the A. rubrum assortment. The red flowers emerge before the leaves. The tree develops a sturdy main root with fibrous rootlets. In limy soil the growth is stunted. In this soil as well as in soil that is too dry, there will be no colouring in autumn. Poor tolerance to (sea) wind. Winter hardiness zone: 4
