Taxus baccata 'Repandens' Taxus baccata 'Repandens'

Taxus baccata 'Repandens' is a low, evergreen conifer that grows broadly spreading to flattened spherical. It grows 1 - 1.5 m high and significantly wider and is a dense shrub, especially in later life. The branches grow slightly wavy and are greenish brown. The old bark is brown. The slightly shiny, medium-green needles are about 2.5 cm long. 'Repandens' is a female cultivar, after inconspicuous flowering not many fruits are usually formed. The dark brown seeds are largely surrounded by fleshy red flesh. The flesh is not poisonous, but the seeds are. The needles are also poisonous. A fine plant for medium-sized to large beds, which will be completely dense after a few years and then require hardly any maintenance. Because 'Repandens' tolerates shade, it can also be used as undergrowth under standard trees. Versatile in gardens, parks, embankments, industrial areas and cemeteries. Originated in the USA in 1887. Hardiness zone: 6b
