The S. arnoldiana hybrid is a cross between S. aucuparia and S. discolor. 'Golden Wonder' is a fast-growing cultivar that becomes a medium-sized tree with a broad pyramidal crown. The leaves are imparipinnate and consist of 9 - 17 (21) lanceolate leaflets. These are 5 - 7 cm long and 2 - 3 cm wide and have a finely serrated leaf edge. A remarkable feature is the dark red leaf stem In the autumn the leaves turn pale yellow to orange-red. The large felt-like flower umbels consist of many white flowers. As early as August the ochre-yellow fruits appear, diameter approx. 1 cm. The tree prefers slightly acid humic soil but also flourishes on dry sandy soils.
