Prunus subhirtella 'Fukubana' is grown both as an upright shrub and as a small tree. Depending on the graft height, the tree grows 5 - 6 m tall. The crown shape is vase-shaped with dense branching. Unfortunately, 'Fukubana' suffers from dead twigs, especially after severe winters. The leaves turn bronze-green. Exuberant and very long flowering in April and May. The semi-double flowers are in dense bundles. Flower buds purple-red, flowers dark pink. Flower diameter approximately 1.5 - 2 cm. Does not tolerate wet soil. Hardiness zone: 5b
