Picea pungens 'Glauca Globosa' is a shrub form with an irregular, bulbous to flattened spherical growth habit. Does not usually grow much higher than about 2 m. Twigs yellowish brown, older branches and bark greyish brown to blackish grey. The stiff sharply pointed needles are blue-grey. Needle colour is less intense than in cultivars such as 'Erich Frahm' and 'Hoopsii'. The needles are close together giving the plant a very dense and compact appearance. Suitable for use in gardens, parks, planters, cemeteries, etc. 'Glauca Globosa' was grown in 1937 by Anth. Kluys in Boskoop as a seedling. Only from 1955 was the plant distributed. Hardiness zone: 4
