Malus toringoides is a small tree from Western China with a broad pyramidal crown. Height approx. 6 m. The dark green leaves are lobed with one pair of lobes with a pointed top. The leaf edge is finely serrated. Diameter of flowers 2 - 2.5 cm. The flowers are in bunches of 4 to 7. The numerous fruits are a remarkable colour of yellowish-red, pear-shaped and approx. 1.5 cm in size. They stay on the tree till December. The tree prefers a nutritious soil.
