Grows from a shrub into a multi-stemmed tree up to about 8 m, with a broad, vase-shaped crown. The leaf is dark green on top and blue-green on the underside, with a slightly undulate leaf margin. The autumn colour is deep red to purplish red. Each flower head is surrounded four pure white bracts, the tips of which curl upwards. The red, strawberry-like fruits, about 2.7 cm in size, are yielded profusely. The plant is shallow rooting with a fibrous root system and requires humic soil, which is not too dry.
