Cornaceae

Cornus 'Eddie's White Wonder' Cornus 'Eddie's White Wonder'

Small tree up to about 10 m, grows vigorously when young. The tree is fairly slender initially, but older branches start to project more and eventually hang gracefully. This produces a broad, pyramidal crown. The large glossy, dark green leaves give beautiful deep red to purplish red autumn colours. Each flower head is surrounded by four to six bracts. These are white and project nearly horizontally from the flower stalk. The flower panicle has a diameter of 10 to 15 cm. ‘Eddie’s White Wonder’ is a hybrid of C. florida and C. nuttallii, and most resembles C. nuttallii. However, the tree is sterile, blossoms two or three weeks later, and is hardier.
