"Summer Bells" is a small tree or shrub (mature height 3-8 m) Hybrid between Chilopsis linearis and Catalpa bignonioides. The leaves are oblong and narrow. Chitalpa tashkentensis 'Summer Bells' flowers profusely with orchid-like, pale pink flower with yellow throat, flowering June - August, sweetly scented. Flowering starts early in summer and lasts about 2-3 weeks. A second flowering follows in mid-August. Chitalpa grows best in full sun, in well-drained soil. Susceptible to mildew in humid weather. Attracts bees and butterflies. Chitalpa is quite rare and therefore not widely available.

Chitalpa tashkentensis 'Summer Bells' bloeit rijkelijk met orchidee-achtige, bleekroze bloem met gele keel, bloeit juni – augustus, zoet geurend. De bloeit start vroeg in de zomer en duurt ongeveer 2-3 weken. Een tweede bloei volgt half augustus. De Chitalpa groeit het best in de volle zon, op een goed gedraineerde grond. Bij vochtig weer gevoelig voor meeldauw. Trekt bijen en vlinders aan. Chitalpa is vrij zeldzaam en daardoor niet breed verkrijgbaar.
