A medium-sized tree with a wide egg-shaped crown. Height up to 10 m. When mature strongly resembles 'Crimson King', but especially when juvenile it has a more slender crown. The leaf is shiny dark red all summer. Flowers and fruits are of the species. Is used as a park tree and as a solitary. Can be applied in smaller gardens as well. Grows on any soil, but does not tolerate stagnating groundwater and peaty soils. Good wind resistance. Winter hardiness zone: 4
