South Quay Plaza is one of the biggest resident properties in the UK. The iconic waterside building is located in Canary Wharf and includes three towers. The tallest has a height of 214.5 m (704 ft) making it the second tallest residential skyscraper currently build in London. HTA Landscape have been appointed by Berkeley Homes to design the public realm. The team designed to manage the perception of humane scale at ground level. They succeeded well in the assignment and created a variety of spaces for active and passive use. Already in the summer of 2019, before the towers were ready, large trees and extensive soft landscape provided a park atmosphere for residents and workers. Also the dock edge walk came back into service. Van den Berk Nurseries supplied big Metasequoia with a stem circumference of 50 to 120 cm, Amelanchier lamarckii, Betula papyrifera and Populus nigra. In planting season 2020-2021 also phase 2 and 3 were finished and the same species were used to complete the project. At the same time a beautiful roof garden, with stunning view over Canary Wharf, was constructed at the 56th floor. Here you can find Amelanchier of 6 meters height. An amazing project and we are proud to be part of it.
