In December 2019, 21 largeTilia americana 'Nova' were planted in the Plaza de Armas de Ferrol. These large specimens of 12 meters high and a trunk circumference of 70-80 cm are the icing on the renovation project of the Plaza de Armas. This square, one of the most emblematic of Ferrol, houses since 1953 the city hall building. The architect and project director Carlos Pita justified the acquisition of these copies as an investment in time. "If we had planted small trees it would take decades to get the size of the trees that this square requires."

These specimens were chosen for their quality standards and growth conditions. The choice of this variety of Tilos responds to historical reasons since the first specimens of this species entered Spain through the port of Ferrol many years ago.
